LOVE IT! July 29, 2010 Shonta Alexander This is my absolute favorite Miss Jessie product. I will be ordering this over and over again. Wish it was cheaper but I guess you get what you pay for. It's so worth it. Highly recommend.
Not for hair types above 3 June 22, 2010 Ezinwanyi (Dallas, TX USA) I spent $58 on this product because my stylist recommended it for me, my 2 and half yr old and 6 month old children. This product didn't moisturize nor did it "define" our curls. It made our hair greasy and I didn't not see any results. Now, we have type 4a/b hair, so maybe it wasn't appropriate for our hair.
Also, it was a beast to wash out that greasy film from our hair.
It is not worth the money. Try the trial size first, then if you like it then buy a bigger size. I had to tell my stylist (who sold me the product) that all products don't work the same just because all her clients are natural.
I recommend trying Oyin's Burnt Sugar Pomade. That has worked wonders on my son's hair.
Great for moisture NOT FOR HOLD May 22, 2010 DivaT (Dallas, Tx) I have natural (non-relaxed) african american hair. I have 4a type hair and its very thick. When I tried this I was skeptical thinking it sure is expensive- it better work! Well I did a twist-out and I like the moisture in my hair- however it gave me no hold-the twists don't stay in-this is NOT a downfall of the product as it doesn't claim to hold -THEREFORE it does just what it says- locks in moisture- adds shine and reduces frizz. I've also used the regular buttercreme and like it as well for the same reason.
What's the big deal? February 22, 2010 T. azor (sojournersongstress) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is greasy, thick, and doesn't leave my hair soft. It just defines curls. It smells GREEAT! I can't lie about that, and that's the only reason why I would buy it again. It's worth the perfume. I use it rarely just to give me a smell. This product was so beefed up after I heard so much about it but it's not a moisturizer. certainly not a daily moisturizers. Wanna do twists to get curls in the morning? buy this. wanna get a jell-like obedience to your hair? buy this. wanna smell GREAT? buy this!
Disgusting, stinky mess!! Do not buy! December 11, 2009 Deb (SF Bay Area, California) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
My stylist used this on my hair. When she applied it, the smell wasn't great, but as my hair "dried" the stench got worse and worse. It's like a super strong baby wipe/powder scent. Real sexy, I know. Notice I put the word "dried" in quotes. That's because this junk is so greasy that my hair never really actually dried. The worst part is that this stuff stinks so bad and feels so horrible that I couldn't sleep, and my spouse kept telling me not to move because moving activated the smell even more. Finally, after hours of tossing and turning, I shampooed my hair (at 3 in the morning), and the smell was only a bit less. In the morning, I had to use 3 different types of shampoos and all different hair products to try to remove this odor and the greasy feeling. After 5 shampoos, there is still a faint smell of this crap. I looked online to see what was in the product and was shocked to find that it's filled with garbage ingredients, such as mineral oil, petrolatum, parabens and animal protein. It's so grossly overpriced! Anyway, do not buy this mess; you've been warned!
